In 1986 Drs Edward (Lev) Linkner and Dennis Chernin saved from demolition two historic 100-year-old Queen Anne Victorian houses then located at 410 and 416 South Main St. in downtown Ann Arbor.
On June 21, 1987, they did something unprecedented in the city's history. They moved the two houses five miles to their present location at 2345 South Huron Parkway. Streets were closed, power lines were taken down and crowds gathered to watch this amazing event unfold.
A friend of Dr. Linkner videotaped the move. In 2013, Ann Arbor's Priceless Photo Preservation digitized this footage and produced the following video of this memorable occasion.
