Topical Scar Treatment

Scarfade scar treatment cream is a gel that is applied like a cream. Once the injured skin begins to heal, it is put directly on the affected area and massaged into the skin. It creates a very thin silicone layer on the scar and helps to reduce its prominence. Scarfade scar treatment cream is nearly invisible and can be worn under make-up. The normal scar forming process begins with any trauma to the skin which injures the dermis and causes bleeding.The skin is made up of three layers.The deepest layer is called the dermis.When the dermis is injured by a deep wound, a scar naturally occurs to bind the edges of a wound together. All deep incisions through the dermis will form a scar.

In certain patients, scars can become raised, reddened and firm. These "hyper" enlarged scars are called hypertrophic scars. Treatment for hypertrophic scars includes cortisone injections, pressure dressings and surgical removal. Another effective treatment for hypertrophic scars called Silicone Gel Sheeting was developed within the last decade.

Suggested Use

Apply pea size drop twice daily.  Gently massage onto the skin and wipe away excess until dry.  May be worn under makeup. The basic rule of thumb is that Scarfade should be used for 12 - 16 weeks or until changes in the size and intensity of the scar are no longer noticed.  It should be applied twice daily, morning and evening.  Reapplication may be needed when used in areas that receive frequent washing or are exposed to excessive rubbing.

Size of Scar: 2" or smaller, 1/2 Oz tube lasts up to 3 months.

Size of Scar: 2" to 4", 1/2 Oz tube lasts 1 to 1 1/2 months.

Size of Scar: 4" to 6", 1/2 Oz tube 1/2 to 1 month.
